Exploring Abilene!

Texas has been so great and we have had a ton of fun here.  The fourth of July was fantastic.  It the one day the whole summer the boys get to come home early! Its so fun. While the guys are gone though all the girls get together and have a pot luck at the pool. Meghan and I made a fruit pizza it was so yummy and it turned out pretty cute.

The fireworks in Abilene were probably some of the best fireworks I have ever seen.  They do them by the zoo and have a live band. We had a ton of fun. It was such a nice night.

We have done some other fun things as well.  Meghan and I decided to go check out a Museum here in Abilene called Frontier Texas.  It was really neat. We learned a lot about Texas history and how it all started.  It was really interesting and the Museum was really interactive we enjoyed it a lot.

This Stagecoach was in Little House on the Prairie and The Three Amigos

We also went to the zoo.  It's a smaller zoo but they had quite a few animals.  We got to see them feed a alligator and the guy that fed him almost got bit it was pretty intense.  It was sooo hot that day though. I think our favorite part was the reptile house because it was air conditioned.

Meghan left this week to go to a family reunion. It's been weird not having my friend here.  I have to come up with ways to entertain myself.  If it wasn't so hot I would go outside more but the heat is crazy here. You start sweating the moment you walk outside because of the humidity. It's wonderful at night though.

The ward here is teeny tiny but everyone is so nice. They are all excited that we are there. Its so funny we played Bingo in relief society. Its a lot of fun.

Texas has been great.  Robert has been having so much success and we are truly blessed! Love you all.

Our Last Days in Minnesota

So we made the 18 hour trek to Texas safely with no problems. We are loving Texas! People really are so nice here.  Our Utahn accent may fit a little bit better here too, though it is not near as strong as a Texan's!  At least they call bags "bags" and not "begs".  Texas is quite a bit hotter then Minni. The only time I have had to pull out a sweater is when we are at home and Robert and Blaine have turned the AC on full blast to cool down from the hot day they had knocking doors.  It is more humid however.  We are living with our friends Blaine and Meghan by the way.  We were limited on apartment options since we were taking over a smaller teams spot.  We each have our own room and bathroom which is wonderful and we just decided to split the grocery bill evenly which works out perfectly.  It's fun having a friend to hang out with while Robert is working all day.  It also makes cooking and cleaning super quick. We still have mosquitoes here some of the boys' ankles look like they have a skin disease because they have been bitten so much. Their farmer tans are also quite hilarious.  It was fun living in Minneapolis but I think the team is a lot happier here in Texas! I do miss my yoga class though :).

While we were still in Minnesota we were able to do a few more things before we left.  We went to the Minneapolis Art Park.  I don't really understand any of the sculptures there at all but they are giant structures that are fun to look at and it was the perfect day for a picnic so we enjoyed it.  Plus we had to get a picture by the famous giant spoon holding a cherry!

The Boys

We also were able to go to the Mall of America. We were there for 4-5 hours and we didn't even come close to seeing the entire thing! It was fun though and they have just about any store you can think of.  Some of our favorites were the Lego store, the American Girl Doll store (I always wanted to go there when I was little), and the Nike store.  The amusement park in the middle of the mall was way sweet as well. Our feet were aching by the time we left.

It was fun being in that city with so much to do there.  I wish we could have spent a little more time there to see some other sites. Maybe we will have to visit there again some day.

It has rained a couple of times here but not nearly as often as it did in Minnesota. Texas has wicked thunder storms though that are incredible.  Abilene may be in the middle of nowhere but this city is a lot larger then I ever thought it would be.  We are in a awesome location as well with lots of things near us.

Things are going well and we are really enjoying it here. I can't believe summer is nearing it's end.  It will be weird to have a schedule again!
